13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

I read Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. 1) You read about an entrepreneur: What surprised you the most? I was most surprised by the fact that Apple didn't make Steve Jobs a billionaire. He received the most money from Pixar. Jobs was fired from Apple in 1985, and so he bought 80% of Pixar and also invested 5 million into the company. After making a deal with Disney to produce Toy Story, it was so successful that it made the company worth increase exponentially. Jobs ended up with a 20 times return from his initial amount, which gave him a net worth of 1.2 billion.  What about the entrepreneur did you most admire? I most admired Jobs for his persistency. He never gave up on his dreams to provide a product that changed the world. Once he had a goal in mind, he would not stop until it was complete, which is why I think he was able to change our society.  What about the entrepreneur did you  least  admire? I least admired the fact that he never read the ...

12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Choose a Segment: My segment is college students. I am choosing this population because I have easy access to college students being on a large college campus in a college-town. Additionally, this segment is a group of people who deal with the problem I am offering to fix and are very prone to damaging their phones or needing a repair. This population would definitely make use of my service. My interviewees are a male sophomore business major from  South Florida, a female freshman engineer major from Tampa, and a male junior business student from South Florida. Interviews: In my interviews, my participants strongly agreed that there was a need for an easy way to repair our phones. They were all heavy users of there phones. The girl I interviewed is involved in many organizations on campus and needs her phone every minute of the day to respond to notifications and know about meetings, etc. Also, just to get around using the bus systems and Uber, my participants said they relied...

11A – Idea Napkin No. 1 Submit Assignment

1)  You.    I am Tanya Sashi. My talents include cooking/creating my own recipes from scratch, being creative, and being a good listener. I have traveled the world, so I have a worldly perspective. I have gone ski diving and scuba diving, so I am adventurous. I have had 2 jobs at an ice cream shop and popcorn shop. My aspirations are to one day own my own company and sell a unique product to consumers that improves their lives. If I was to start providing this phone insurance, I am sure it would better people’s lives as they would worry less about damaging their phones and I would save them money. This would also allow me to be a successful business owner. 2)  What are you offering to customers? My service allows people with phones to have an insurance plan for their phones that allows them free repairs no matter what happens to it. Even if the damage is due to them, they will still get a free repair. I will respond to customers’ unmet needs of not having a h...

9A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Who: So the people I interviewed who should have my unmet need but do not, are people who are very careful and don't do many active activities. These people treat their phones like their pride and joy, keep expensive cases on them that make their phones waterproof, and do not take their phones with them when they do activities. So their phones are not exposed to rain, sports, and other activities that could risk harming/damaging their phones. What: One person I interviewed said that, even the most careful person can still be careless at one time and risk damaging their phone. They said it is inevitable that phones will break at some point because of life. There comes a point where even the most protective case cannot prevent damages on phones. Why: My interviewees needs are not different from my consumers within my boundary, they just take more preventative measures to reduce the risk of damaging their phones. Inside the boundary Outside the boundary Who is In: Everyone who ...

8A – Solving The Problem

1. My opportunity is that phones break easily and for how much we spend on them, we should get a product that is built to last and waterproof. Consumers need a way to either keep their phones from breaking and keep them from ever needing to be fixed or replaces. Or, an alternative method is that consumers need a way to fix their phones easily and not at a high cost. 2. My service to help with this opportunity is for phone companies to allow free phone insurance. So if something happens to a phone and it stops working, they must replace the user's phone at no cost. This would motivate phone companies to actually build phone's that couldn't break, so they would not lose money on replacing people's phones. 2A. A product I could also come up with is using better materials to build phones. For example, using sapphire glass on the screens so they don't scratch/break easily and using water resistant casing to make phones waterproof. Small changes in the structures of ph...

7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Indestructible Phones Opportunity: People's phones break pretty easily. My friends are always having to buy new phones because of water damage or screen breakages. Phone break so easily as they are not waterproof or shatterproof. Phones need to be built to last for how expensive they are and how important they are in our daily lives. The who: Every person who owns a phone, which is almost everyone over the age of 10.  The what: Phones are weak and break easily. They are not built to withstand much. The why: We use phones everyday and need them to get around and contact people. Society has made it almost impossible to survive without one. If our phones are always breaking, we will waste a lot of money on new ones/repairs. Testing the who: Mostly millennial/younger people tend to break their phones, so I'd like to focus on them. Testing the what: Is it all ages this affects? Or just younger people. Does it happen mostly when people are inebriated or from daily accide...
