9A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Who: So the people I interviewed who should have my unmet need but do not, are people who are very careful and don't do many active activities. These people treat their phones like their pride and joy, keep expensive cases on them that make their phones waterproof, and do not take their phones with them when they do activities. So their phones are not exposed to rain, sports, and other activities that could risk harming/damaging their phones.
What: One person I interviewed said that, even the most careful person can still be careless at one time and risk damaging their phone. They said it is inevitable that phones will break at some point because of life.There comes a point where even the most protective case cannot prevent damages on phones.
Why: My interviewees needs are not different from my consumers within my boundary, they just take more preventative measures to reduce the risk of damaging their phones.

    I believe that what you found in your interviews can be understandable. It is true that sometimes people are careless with their phone and this lead them to drop it and break it. However, I do believe that sometimes things can happen and can be out of our control. It can happen that another person makes it drop. There could external causes that lead to have the phone broken. You made a good point b saying that life takes us to situation where a phone is prone to being damaged.

    I originally was one of those people who considered my phone something sent from heaven. When I got the Iphone 7, I cherished it and bought it in the best case I could buy. However, like you said before, mistakes happen. A friend is the one who dropped my phone and I've been dealing with it ever since. Therefore, you're so right in the fact that no matter what, a phone is prone to damage, unless you literally lock it up and don't use it.

    I can agree with your interviewees, I am one of those people who take a lot of precautions when it comes to my phone, it is very expensive and I don't want it to break. Also no matter how careful I was with my phone it did break once because of an accident. Although I had to have gotten my phone replaced way more times because of something out of my control, like a software or hardware issue not caused by me. I do have Apple care plus for my phone but it is expensive and I wish there was a way I can have that same insurance for a little less.

    Everything has to have a life expectancy, including inanimate objects (i.e Phones). Someone who should have this unmet need but doesn't could be people who will spend as much as their phone is worth on protection for it. It's hard to imagine someone so perfect they can confidently say they'll "never break their phone", so i wouldn't say they fall out of need but are too stubborn to realize they're part of it. I mean who would reject a more protected and less destructible phone?

1) This person is an Apple technician. He's worked at Apple for 2 years and has answered questions and sold apple products and dealt with fixing apple products. 2) I would say this man is a domain expert in that he knows a lot of information about Apple's policies and making appointments and phones but not too much about the technology itself. He is an expert in providing customer service. 3) I recently had to get my apple watch replaced because it had a cracked screen. Choose a Segment: My segment is college students. I am choosing this population because I have easy access to college students being on a large college campus in a college-town. Additionally, this segment is a group of people who deal with the problem I am offering to fix and are very prone to damaging their phones or needing a repair. This population would definitely make use of my service. My interviewees are a male sophomore business major from  South Florida, a female freshman engineer major from Tampa, and a male junior business student from South Florida.
