14A – Halfway Reflection
1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
To keep up with requirements, I have set certain days to complete each weekly assignment. This helps me stay on track and not miss any deadlines. I usually try to do the assignments on Thursdays, as the Cupcakes are released then and I can get the homework out of the way. Then, on Sundays, when everyone in my group has done their assignments I write my comments and am done with the work for that week. It always helps to do the assignments ahead of time as well, so you don't have to worry about them if you have a busy week ahead.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
When I was very stressed and had a lot of exams coming up, sometimes I would want to slack off and not do assignments, but when I thought of how much better I would feel if I just did the work and relax after, I would push through. This has helped me get better at completing my assignments.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
1.) Foster these skills by setting aside a schedule when you will do your work, and a back up plan if you cannot work on a certain day.
2.) Get this mindset by finding others in your class who can motivate you to work.

I enjoyed reading your post. I completely agree with the three tips you provided. It is true that you need a schedule to decide when to do the work. I also agree that meaningful comments on people's posts are important. Feedbacks are definitely a good way to know what other people think and to do better the next assignments.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips! Giving good feedbacks on peer reviews is imperative. We are each other's sample audience and consumers; therefore, we should be giving our honest opinion and critiques. Critiquing also helps prevent us from sounding mechanical posting the same "i agree/ great idea!" peer reviews each week. I found peer review difficult at first because i struggled not to sound redundant, then i realized my actual opinion on my peers products is a much more valuable response.
ReplyDeleteI really like your work ethic, it ensures that you can get your work done on time which is really important for an online class. Your tips are really good, the second one is super important because if you find someone in the class, not only can they motivate you but also help you when you are stumped and vice versa. The meaningful comments are really good because we are basically helping each other out after each post and if the comment isn't meaning both parties won't be able to learn from the peer reviews.
