18A – Create a Customer Avatar
Alex
Meet Alex, my prototypical customer. Alex has blonde/brown hair but it is not naturally that color. She enjoys keeping up with the trends and likes all the popular/basic music. She is in Alpha Alpha Alpha and enjoys tanning, going to library west with her friends, and going to midtown. She's obsessed with her iPhone and social media and is always on her phone. She spends most of her money on makeup, clothes, and food. Her phone is her life and she "could not live without it." She likes working out at Southwest and is obsessed with avocado toast. She is 20 and is an accounting major and hopes to live in a big city when she graduates, like New York or Seattle. She's originally from Tampa, FL but secretly wishes she was from South Florida. She has one of those wallet cases on her iPhone, so she doesn't even need a purse. She relies on her phone to carry her life and would probably die without it. She drives an Audi and a red scooter which she rarely uses. She only gets her eyebrows done from this Arabic lady from her hometown, nobody else can touch them. She is obsessed with Netflix shows and Grey's Anatomy.
I am similar to Alex because I enjoy a lot of the same things she does, like avocado toast and music taste, but I don't believe I am as basic as she is. I think we are similar because I too am a female college student who owns an iPhone and grew up in Florida.
I enjoyed reading about your avatar customer. I do not think that the similarities between you and your avatar are casual. They definitely are not a coincidence. When we think about the best customer for our idea we definitely think about ourself. That is why I believe it becomes really easy and almost a must to include personal traits into the customer avatar you want to create.
ReplyDeleteI actually laughed when i read the line " She's originally from Tampa, FL but secretly wishes she was from South Florida". The entire time reading the description of your avatar i thought to myself "oh she's describing every cliche Miami girl." I'm from Miami myself and i can picture your prototypical customer, Alex, as every girl in my high school. Even down to the iPhone wallet for your card and ID, since bringing a bag to the club can get annoying.
ReplyDeleteI love the avatar you made, although she seems really basic, she it what many people perceive as the typical millennial. I feel as if when we made these avatars the similarities between ourselves and them aren't coincidental. When we think of people sometimes we put our own attributes into them even if they may not have them. Like when we get surprised when people are acting a certain way because we can't see ourselves doing it so we get surprised when they do it. That's just how I feel though.
ReplyDeleteIt is humorous because in making our avatars, we both described the basic white chick. We both mentioned Grey's Anatomy and said they drove Audi's. I'm almost jealous I didn't think of the avocado toast haha. In the end, the customer for your business and mine are both college females who like to be trendy. I think it is interesting that we both picked something that is somewhat similar to us but not really.
